چکیده
Secondary particles produced in spallation reactions of cosmic rays with the interstellar gas provide valuable information that allow us to investigate injection and transport charged Galaxy. A good understanding cross sections production these is crucial correctly interpret our models, although existing experimental data very scarce uncertain. We have developed a new set sections, both inelastic inclusive, computed {\tt FLUKA} Monte Carlo nuclear code tested its compatibility CR data. متن کاملThe GALPROP Cosmic-Ray Propagation Code
The Galactic cosmic-ray propagation code GALPROP is designed to make predictions of many kinds of data self-consistently, including direct cosmic-ray measurements, gamma rays and synchrotron radiation. In the decade since its conception it has undergone considerable development, which is continuing. A public version was made available a few years ago, supported by a website. We describe the new...

This discussion paper is/has been under review for the journal Hydrology and Earth System Sciences (HESS). Please refer to the corresponding final paper in HESS if available. Abstract Soil moisture status in land surface models (LSMs) can be updated by assimilating cosmic-ray neutron intensity measured in air above the surface. This requires a fast and accurate model to calculate the neutron in...
متن کاملBreaking the Barriers—Uniting Accelerator and Cosmic Ray p-p Cross Sections
We make a QCD-inspired parameterization of all accelerator data on forward proton-proton and antiproton-proton scattering amplitudes. Using vector dominance and the additive quark model, we show that the same parameters also fit γp and γγ interactions. Using the high energy predictions of our model, along with Glauber theory, we calculate proton–air cross sections at energies near √ s ≈ 30 TeV....
متن کاملProton-Proton Total Cross Sections from the Window of Cosmic Ray Experiments
The importance of cosmic-ray experimental measurements of proton-proton total cross sections to understand the underlying fundamental dynamics is discussed. It is shown that early discovered global structure of proton-proton total cross section [5,17] is completely compatible with the values obtained from cosmic-ray experiments.
